We bought a boat!

7/14/15
And when I say a boat I mean a $47 blow up "3" person raft we got from Sports Authority. 2 people, and 1 cooler. Ya know what though, it does the trick until my student loans are paid off, we own a house and pump out a few kids.

After an incredibly exhausting weekend at the Mercer Island Summer Celebration where we had a booth for our business, Mercer Island CrossFit, I deserve this day. We worked during the morning, getting blogs set up for our business, contacting new clients and watching Love it or List it, Too. Then we ran by QFC and grabbed some Bud for him and Smith & Forge for me then headed to lake Washington. We  dropped in at a little public area between all the mansions on the Mercer Island waterfront and spent a couple hours drinking, floating and laughing. Oh and we wore SPF 50. No skin cancer for us freckly/moley/white skinned people.

I love my husband, and I love being married to him. God has blessed us more than we could have ever imagined. We are blessed without jobs that require us to wear uncomfortable shoes, are be inside during the day. Sure we have to get up at 4:30am 4 our of 5 days of the week but I'll take that over running errands at 4pm or sitting at a desk all day. Plus, I get to hang out with my husband all day, how many people get to do that!?

Wanna know what I made for dinner?
Protein was left over, basically surf and turf leftover steak and rockfish from the previous nights with brussel sprouts cooked with bacon, cumin, Johnny's Seasoning and Smoked Paprika. Blasted broccoli (tossed in a bowl with olive oil, Johnny's and red pepper flakes, then baked at 385 for about 25 mintues).

Corey drank Budweiser and I drank a White Russian and then Red Apothic wine.

Our Chickens have PMS

Saturday 7/12

I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. We have 7 chickens, well we started with 7, now we have 6 because 1 was dragged off by a raccoon. At least we didn't have to see the carcass, or deal with the body disposal, how thoughtful of the raccoon to take care of it for us.

Since we have 7 (6) chickens we want them to be happy and lay lots of eggs so we let them roam around our yard which means lots of chicken poop. In the winter it's not too bad but in the summer I want to walk around my yard barefoot whenever I can (hey, I grew up in Alabama, what can I say). So we built a fence around their coop so they can still be outside but not pooping under our patio table and fire pit all the time.

A couple days after the fence was built we noticed a few not laying eggs and not getting out of the nesting box. We went from 7-13 eggs a day to 0-2. So I did some research and found out this from Mypetchicken.com
"When a hen is broody, that means she wants to hatch her eggs. A breed known as broody has hens that often, individually go broody, and they may not even need eggs to set on to be broody--they may go broody in a nest with no eggs. Further, if there are eggs in the nest, if there is not a rooster in your flock, your hens will not know that their eggs won't be fertile. Your hen will seem to be in a sort of bad temper while she broods, she may pluck out her breast feathers so she can be closer to the eggs, and she may even screech a warning at any birds or people who come near her nest! "

Aww, I was so sad for my chickens so I talked to my husband about it....

Me: "They are sad! (with a pouty lip). They just want to me mom's, they are trying to turn the eggs into chicks because it's in their nature.
Him: Oh good, so they aren't mad at us for building the fence, or sick, they are just on their period.

I was actually so proud of him for using that work, I couldn't help but laugh.

Sorry no food making today, I've been really busy preparing for a Festival our CF box has a booth at. But, here is a picture of my breakfast- poached eggs over bacon and fresh Mozzarella cheese with cantaloupe and mixed nuts on stars and stripes paper plates from Target.

I got it

I've been waiting for the perfect title for my everything blog. I love eating Paelo, doing CrossFitt, owning a CF gym, but I also love everything country, anything with sugar and just basically doing things I " shouldn't" so here is where all of that is going.

I'm going to post the most random stuff ever. Some could be CrossFit, some could be paleo, or not. Some will be the hilarious stuff my husband says that makes me laugh. Whatever I feel like posting will go here. Read and be merry. No need for turds here.

So here is what I made for dinner. Apparently I was hungry at 5pm when I got home from coaching.

I had some leftover smoked ham lunch meat (nitrate and hormone free from Costco). Then I roasted some Heirloom tomatoes with salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cumin then topped it with fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh basil from my basil plant!
* Side note, my husband wanted me to throw the basil plant away because we never use it but it's the only plant I've ever kept alive so I made this to prove to him I use the plant.

Then, I made this for dessert....
Are you asking yourself if there is an Oreo in that cookie, the answer is yes, yes it is. Welcome to my cookie stuffed cookie!
So disclaimer: THIS IS NOT PALEO. I know, I'm sorry.
I made these a while ago and they have become "famous" in our friend group so they are constantly requested. What the recipe? Super simple, and I mean SUPER SIMPLE.
1) Make a batch of Chocolate chip cookie dough and refrigerate it for about 20 minutes.
2) Take an Oreo cookie and wrap the cookie dough around it.
3) Bake at 375 for 11-12 minutes.

Simple, right. I have also put Reese's Cups and Heath Bar inside. I've heard of people doing a chocolate cookie with nutter butter inside, how good would that be!?

I didn't actually eat these for dessert. I had whiskey for dessert. These were made for my friends that donated money to a bike ride I'm doing to raise $$ for cancer research. It's called Obliteride and it's in memory of my dad who died of cancer 6 years ago. Hey you should donate! Here's the link.
